Drunk Driving claims 2 lives and injures 5 others in Cambria County Accident

A motor vehicle crash this weekend in Cambria County is just another reminder that drinking and driving is deadly. Two young men lost their lives when one of them, a 29 year-old from Dysart, got behind the wheel with a reported .33 Blood Alcohol Level (almost four times the legal limit in Pennsylvania). The drunk driver was traveling south on Rt. 36 in Clearfield Township when he failed to negotiate a curve and his car traveled sideways into the northbound lane where his car was hit by another vehicle.

The 29 year-old driver and his 27 year-old passenger were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The vehicle traveling northbound was driven by a 17 year-old boy from Patton who had 4 others in the car. All five of the students were taken to local hospitals. It is reported that all five were thankfully wearing their seatbelts and should recover from their injuries.

Crashes like these are a parents' worst nightmare. Your children are on the roads late at night, obeying the rules of the road, and someone else who makes a bad decision injures them. In cases like these parents often call us and ask who is responsible for the medical bills and future medical costs of their teens' injuries.

In crashes where multiple people were injured in an accident there are many sources to turn to for compensation for injuries. Because the accident is the fault of the other driver, the family of the passenger in the drunk driver's car and all five students traveling northbound may turn to the negligent driver's car insurance for payment. In addition, injured parties may turn to their own under and uninsured auto coverage for recovery for their medical bills, pain, suffering and any lost wages. In these cases it is very important to speak to an experienced car accident attorney as most insurance companies do not just send you the money you deserve for injuries.

If you or a loved one has been injured in any type of car accident, we are available to answer your questions at no charge. In personal injury and car collision cases, we work on a contingency fee basis, which means there is never an out of pocket cost to you.
