The collision of two vehicles in Upper Tyrone, Pennsylvania, earlier this week resulted in four people being sent to the hospital.

The car accident occurred as a Honda Civic driven on Route 119 hit another vehicle that was driving in the same direction. When the Honda hit the Chevrolet Astro, both vehicles drove up an embankment. They then both rolled over.

All four individuals involved in the incident were injured. The man driving the Chevrolet was reportedly thrown from the van in the collision. One of the other two people in the van at the time of the collision was stuck in the vehicle. Rescue workers had to extricate that passenger. All three were taken to Excela Health Frick Hospital, located in Mt. Pleasant. The driver, whose injuries were more serious, was later transferred to UPMC Presbyterian located in Pittsburgh.

The man driving the Honda was also taken to Excela Health Frick Hospital and was released later in the week.

It is not clear what caused the Honda to hit the van. As is often the case, there may be a variety of factors contributing to the collision. Sometimes accidents such as these are due to driver distraction when for example the driver is on the phone or texting. Other times, there can be something on the road that causes a car to slip. In other cases, a vehicle may malfunction causing a driver to lose control.

As is the case in car accidents such as this one, it is likely that an investigation into its cause is being conducted. The results of such an investigation may provide information that would prompt someone injured in the accident to file a personal injury lawsuit against the person who is at fault.
