An early morning accident involving a pickup truck and dump truck resulted in the death of a 27-year-old man from Connellsville, Pennsylvania. The fatal accident occurred on Route 119, not far from Oglevee Lane.
The man who died was reportedly behind the wheel of the pickup when it collided with a dump truck. The right side of his Ford F150 pickup truck was the point of impact in the crash. According to state police, the accident happened when the dump truck tried to cross Route 119's southbound lanes after stopping at a stop sign. The force of the collision left both vehicles on their sides.
As is the case in most car accidents, it is likely that a full investigation into the matter will be launched. These investigations, conducted by law enforcement agencies, commonly include a reconstruction of the accident. These reconstructions help to determine the speed of the vehicles involved as well as potentially who was at fault.
No one else was hurt in the accident. The coroner said that the 27-year-old man who was killed sustained injuries to his head as well as broken bones in his legs and arms.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation it is possible that a civil lawsuit could be filed against the driver of the dump truck. Wrongful death lawsuits are sometimes filed against a party who is to blame for a fatal accident. If successful, the family receives an amount of money that is equivalent to the amount his or her life is determined to be worth.
