It seems as though every week brings news stories of some kind of product recall. Whether it takes place in Pennsylvania or elsewhere in the country, it can be frightening for people who have used or consumed that product. Many of the most recent recalls have been food-related, and these tainted foods have caused a significant number of illnesses and deaths.
The largest number of deaths from food-borne illnesses occurs in the elderly, young children, and people who have compromised immune systems or other medical conditions. However, even those who are completely healthy can die from bacteria such as salmonella and listeria in their food. If you've been injured or sickened by a food or some other product that has been recalled, you may have a claim for damages.
Earlier this month Front Tow Produce announced a recall of some of its grape tomatoes after random testing indicated that some of them may be contaminated with salmonella. In healthy people salmonella can cause unpleasant symptoms such as fever, cramping and diarrhea. Generally, no treatment is necessary as long as the person suffering from it stays hydrated. The symptoms can be much worse if the person who contracts it has a weakened immune system. IN these cases it can be life-threatening.
Talking with a good lawyer can help you decide whether you have a case against the company that sold you the product, the store where you purchased it, or the place in which it was grown or manufactured. It is not necessary for you to take on this problem by yourself, because help is available to you. If you have a case, a lawyer will provide you with some options and considerations for you to examine.
He or she can help you make a decision about which you can feel good. You shouldn't be afraid to sue for damages if you've been legitimately injured or sickened, especially if the company was negligent. In those kinds of cases, fair compensation is often available to you.
