Child care bus involved in collision in Phillipsburg

Every day throughout Pennsylvania, parents on their way to work drop their children at day care centers. There, they assume that the child will remain safe until the end of the day when they return to pick them up. Because accidents can occur virtually any time, anywhere, however, this is not always the case. While the potential for an accident lurks behind every corner, the chance of an injury inducing accident increases when children are transported in a motor vehicle.

A 5-year-old was involved in one such crash earlier this month in Phillipsburg, Pennsylvania. The accident occurred when the child care bus in which the child was a passenger was hit by a car as it was attempting to gain access to a turnaround ramp. At the time of the collision, the 5-year-old was the only child on the bus. There were two people in the car that hit it.

Though no one sustained serious injuries in the collision, following the accident all four people involved in the accident were taken to hospitals in the area. The car's driver was transported to St. Luke's Hospital after complaining of minor injuries. The passenger in the car, the bus driver and the child were sent to Warren Hospital where they were evaluated.

Car accidents of varying degrees of severity happen every day. Clearly the end result of this accident could have been much worse than it was. It is fortunate that there were not more children in the bus at the time of the crash.
