A man involved in a tragic accident earlier this month sadly died this week. The fatal accident occurred at an auto auction he regularly attended located near Manheim, Pennsylvania. The 57-year-old man was the founder and owner of a 15-year-old company that specialized in the transportation of vehicles.
At the time of the accident the man was in the process of loading vehicles onto a carrier when an air hose apparently dislodged causing a Ford F-350 to pin him. Several men lifted the pickup truck off of the man when they discovered what had happened. Once freed, he was taken to Lancaster General Hospital where he died the following day. According to an autopsy, he died as a result of mechanical asphyxia. The coroner indicated the death was an accident.
The accident is currently being investigated by the police. It is not uncommon for wrongful death lawsuits to be filed in tragic situations such as these. These lawsuits can be filed against another person or entity when negligence on the part of the individual or party is to blame for the death of another person. Depending on the investigation's findings, it is possible that his family could pursue this type of civil lawsuit.
While filing a wrongful death lawsuit will not bring a loved one back, it may make it easier for those left behind to move forward with their lives. Because these cases can be complicated it is best to seek the assistance of an experienced attorney as soon as possible.
