Chain reaction accident on PA 34 sends young children to hospital

While no one wants to hear that there has been a motor vehicle accident, it is especially upsetting when very young children are involved.

A chain reaction car accident involving four cars occurred in Carroll Township last month. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the late afternoon accident on PA 34 began when a Nissan Sentra driven by a 21-year-old woman rear-ended the car in front of it, a Chrysler Cirrus. As a result of the impact, the Chrysler was pushed into a GMC Envoy. The GMC then hit a Ford Ranger.

As accidents go, rear-end crashes are fairly common. Depending on specific factors such as speed, the resulting property damage and injuries can vary. While some rear-end accidents are only fender-benders, others result in serious injuries to the neck, shoulders or back. In some cases a vehicle occupant may sustain a closed head wound caused by the brain being forced against the inside of the skull. Vehicle occupants may also sustain muscle and joint injuries.

Individuals who are hurt in a rear-end accident may be entitled to compensation for their injuries. This compensation may be attained by filing a personal injury lawsuit. Depending on the particular circumstances of the accident, these types of cases can be complicated. For this reason if you think you might want to file a personal injury lawsuit it is important to consult an experienced attorney sooner rather that later.

In addition to the 17-year-old driver, two children were in the Chrysler. Though immediately following the crash thankfully no one appeared to be injured, the 2-month-old baby and 1-year-old child were taken to Harrisburg Hospital to be checked-out.
