Accident leads to arrest of state employee for suspicion of drunk driving

An accident in downtown Pittsburgh, after a college football game, ended in the arrest of one of the people involved. The 39-year old woman who was arrested for suspected drunk driving after the incident is employed by the Pennsylvania police Liquor Control Enforcement office.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:45 p.m. in heavy traffic around the intersection of Penn and Ninth avenues. At the time of the accident the woman who was arrested was driving the state car provided to her as a part of her job. Besides her car one other car was involved in the crash.

After the accident, police in the area attended to the scene. It was then that it was determined the woman was possibly intoxicated. After observing behavior typically seen of those under the influence of alcohol, such as bloodshot eyes and issues with balance, the police asked the woman to perform field tests. She also took a Breathalyzer test. Though the legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08 percent, the complaint indicates her blood alcohol level registered at 0.117 percent.

Drunk driving is the cause of many car accidents that result in serious injuries and deaths. When someone has been injured due to the actions of a drunk driver it may be possible to receive compensation for the injuries. In addition to a personal injury lawsuit against the intoxicated driver, in cases where the driver was clearly intoxicated, the bar or restaurant that provided the alcohol may also be responsible under Dram shop liability.

Though there was a lot of traffic at the time of this accident, fortunately only minor injuries were sustained.
