Woman survives chain-reaction accident with dump truck

A 70-year-old woman survived a collision with a dump truck last week. After the crash the Monroeville, Pennsylvania, woman was alert but trapped between a guardrail and the truck. The tri-axle of the truck had to be removed before the fire department could extract her from her decimated car. It took 45 minutes before they were able to free her from the wreckage. Once removed, the senior was transferred to a Pittsburgh hospital via helicopter. In addition to a broken pelvis she also sustained broken ribs.

The chain-reaction truck accident in which she was involved occurred on Route 8 around 4:00 in the afternoon near Clearview Mall in Center Township. The details of how the accident unfolded are currently unclear. At the time of the accident the woman was on her way to a restaurant where she was going to have dinner.

In addition to the injuries the woman sustained, her car was destroyed. Other people were injured in the chain-reaction crash as well. Though the extent of their injuries is unknown, all are expected to recover completely.

Miraculously, the woman has a sense of humor about the whole thing. In addition to her golf clubs being rendered unusable, she lost her glasses in the crash. She reportedly laughed as she told a local news crew that the glasses should be sent to her if found.

The driver of a car that reported turned in front of the woman and the truck shortly before the accident occurred is being sought by police.
