A hospital mistake at Uniontown Hospital in Fayette County, Pennsylvania has caused a newborn baby to be airlifted to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. According to initial reports, a nurse with 30 years of experience was seated and providing care to an infant when the male child slipped from her hands and landed on his head. The incident happened at the Family Beginnings Birthing Center.

Immediately after the hospital accident, the infant was put through a battery of tests that showed no injuries. The baby was then transferred to UPMC Children's Hospital for precautionary reasons where they found that the baby boy had a skull fracture and bleeding on the right side of his skull. Thankfully, it has been reported that the baby will not need surgery and will fully recover.

The Uniontown Hospital is conducting an internal investigation into the incident.
