Two separate bus accidents have injured 17 people in less than 12 hours in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. Both incidents involved Port Authority buses. The first of these two motor vehicle accidents happened at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Smithfield Street in downtown Pittsburgh. The accident was caused by a car running a red traffic signal and hitting a bus. The driver of the car and of the bus in this accident suffered head injuries and were taken to Pittsburgh area hospitals. There were also three passengers on the bus taken to the hospital and many more suffered minor injuries.

The second accident occurred on Forbes Avenue near the Armstrong Tunnel in Pittsburgh. As a result of this accident, two passengers on the bus were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
