Fatal car accident on Route 249 in PA

According to the police a fatal accident occurred yesterday morning in Westfield Township, Pennsylvania, when a 20-year-old woman was driving her Pontiac Sunfire on State Route 249 in Tioga County. At approximately 9:30 a.m. she entered a curve in the road. As she did so, her car reportedly slid causing her to cross into the other lane and collide with the car occupying that lane. The driver of the other vehicle was a 53-year-old woman.

The accident caused Route 249 to be closed for a time while rescue crews attended to the victims and the scene. The state police, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Crary Hose Fire Co. were all on the scene to aid in the rescue and clean-up.

The 20-year-old woman driving the Pontiac sustained injuries in the crash and was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital, located in Sayre, Pennsylvania. Her condition is listed as critical.

The 53-year-old was killed as a result of the crash. Though blunt force trauma has been cited as the immediate cause of death, Lehigh Valley Medical Center in Allentown is planning on performing an autopsy on the woman today.

When someone is killed in an auto accident, there are many matters that loved ones need to attend to. The anger and grief often felt can be incapacitating making it difficult to attend to daily chores let alone the additional issues brought on by the unexpected death. Though there is nothing that can be done to bring the person who has died back, obtaining a financial recovery via a wrongful death lawsuit may help make it easier to work through the anger and grief without worrying about financial burdens.
