According to updated reports, three people have been transported to a nearby hospital after they were hurt in an industrial explosion at a steel mill in northeastern Ohio on Monday morning. 

The explosion reportedly took place at the Republic Steel plant. Republic Steel is located in Lorain, Ohio, just west of Cleveland. The accident happened at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

A spokesperson from the fire department told reporters that there were three people injured, but did not provide many details, such as their names, ages, or the sex of the victims. A spokesperson from a Lorain County ambulance distributor told reporters that the injuries did not seem life-threatening.

This past April, Republic Steel conceded to pay nearly two and half million dollars in fines for health and safety violations at four of its industrials plants, including the plant in Lorain. The fine was assessed after an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) audit of the facilities. The Lorain plant was only reopened within the last twelve months, after years of being closed down.
