The construction of stadiums for sporting events is seemingly always going on. This is true not only in the United States but in other places throughout the world as well. As is the case with any construction site, it is possible that accidents could occur. A stadium, which is being built to host several games for the World Cup Soccer tournament, this spring, has been the site of multiple construction accidents. The most recent accident at the Brazilian construction site occurred earlier this month.

The incident left a 55-year-old man dead. This is the third fatal accident that has occurred in the course of construction of the Arena da Amazonia.

The man’s death was the result of a piece of iron that fell from a crane that was being taken apart after its use was no longer needed. According the hospital he was transported to, his death was due to chest and head injuries.

Falling objects are one of the things that construction workers need to be concerned about on job sites. In the United States, construction sites including those in the Pittsburgh area, are supposed to follow safety regulations created by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Despite this, injuries nonetheless still occur.

When a worker in Western Pennsylvania is injured in the course of his or her job, it is possible that workers’ compensation benefits could be available to that person. Most employers in the state of Pennsylvania are required to purchase workers’ compensation policies to aid workers when the injury is so severe that they cannot work.
