A Rogers, Ohio man was killed during a rollover crash on State Route 7 in Elk Run Township around 6pm on 4 September. The accident happened just past Beaver Local middle and high schools at a bend where the entrance to Beaver Creek Meadows Golf Course is located.
The man was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger. A passenger in the vehicle, a woman also from Rogers, was hurt, but officials are calling her injuries non-life-threatening. From the scene, it appears as if the man took the bend too sharply, slid off the road into a guardrail, attempted to cut back, and then began to roll several times before coming to a stop.
A helicopter landed at the golf course to life-flight the passenger to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. While police continue to investigate, they do believe that alcohol may have been involved and know for sure that neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing a seatbelt.
According to Car & Driver Magazine, the 1999 Ford Ranger was never officially tested for rollover accidents. The Ranger was built on the same body as the Ford Explorer–infamous for its inability to negotiate sharp turns, causing fatal accidents that number in the thousands.
