A collision between a car and a dump truck near Pittsburgh late last week resulted in the death of a Sandy Lake man.
The fatal accident occurred when the 51-year-old driver of a Toyota Yaris crossed the center line of Glenn School Road in Mill Creek Township around 11:15 a.m. Friday and collided with a dump truck. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is not known was caused the man to veer from his lane.
The driver of the dump truck, a 23-year-old man from Franklin, Pennsylvania, was not hurt in the collision. The driver of the dump truck, of course, is very lucky to have emerged from the collision unharmed.
In this car accident, only one person was harmed. Had the other driver been injured, however, and were it to be determined that the first driver was at fault for some reason, the second driver might have been able to recover for his injuries and injury-related expenses. The concept behind this is simple – if a person did nothing to bring about his or her injury, then the person who is responsible should bear the burden of restoring the injured party to a position as close as possible to that which he or she was in before the accident. Naturally, this is a complicated process. Speaking with a knowledgeable attorney who regularly deals with these types of matters could fill you in on exactly how it works and leave you better informed as to whether you have a case.
