Over the course of the past few years, American car maker, Ford, has waged a comeback after many previous years of struggling in the car marketplace. That comeback may be hampered a bit as a result of recent news regarding a recall of approximately 465,000 model year 2013 vehicles. The reason for the recall is a fuel leak. Pittsburgh area owners of the vehicles should be aware that the fuel leak could lead to a fire.

The carmaker apparently became aware of the fuel leak issue after receiving numerous customer complaints. The business indicated that it received a total of 600 such communications by the end of this past March. Thus far it does not appear that anyone has died or even been injured as a result of the issue.

Several models of Ford vehicles are included in the recall including:

• Interceptor Utility
• Interceptor Sedan
• Fusion
• Taurus
• Explorer
• Flex

In addition, three Lincolns, the MKZ, MKT and MKS, are also a part of the recall.

At this point the cause of the fuel leak is not clear. Because an automobile is made up of so many components however, there are many opportunities for something like this to go wrong. When a defective auto component is found to be the cause of injury or death, it could potentially lead to a products liability lawsuit. Such lawsuits, which when successful, result in financial damages, are often complex. This makes it important to work with lawyers who are familiar with handling such cases.
