Though unexpected deaths happen many different ways they often involve motorized vehicles. There are likely many reasons for this including their availability. Nearly everywhere one looks in Western Pennsylvania there is a motorized vehicle of some sort. They are used not only for transportation but recreation as well.
Earlier this month a 15-year-old boy who was riding an ATV for recreation was killed in an accident in front of approximately 300 spectators. At the time of the fatal accident the teen was taking part in a race with one other individual.
The accident reportedly occurred when something caused the rider to lose control of his ATV. This led the ATV to flip after first hitting a barrier erected along the side of the track. When the ATV flipped, it launched the teen from it.
It is unclear what injuries the boy suffered but despite the presence of medical personnel on site, they were too serious and he died. According to the race sponsor, the death is the first one to occur in the 28 years racing has been taking place at the track.
All who are involved in racing at the Bedford County track are likely reeling from the boy's death. His family is probably experiencing many different emotions and may not know where to turn. If it is determined that the loss of control could have been due to someone else's negligence, a wrongful death lawsuit could be appropriate. That negligence could take many forms including the way in which the track was constructed.
