When discussing physical attributes first noted upon meeting someone, an individual's smile often tops the list. Not only are teeth necessary and functional, but their size, color and shape also impact an individual's image and overall look. For individuals in the spotlight, their physical appearance is often subject to constant public scrutiny.
Famed country singer, LeAnne Rimes recently filed a medical malpractice lawsuit against her dentist. The singer sought treatment from the dentist in question for pain related to a Temporomandibular Joint Disorder as well as for cosmetic improvements. After multiple and extensive dental procedures including nine root canals, a bridge and bone grafting; the singer continues to suffer pain and what the lawsuit refers to as a "permanent cosmetic deficiency".
Rimes is suing the dentist for an unspecified amount related to the emotional, physical and even psychiatric injuries she has suffered during the last three years. The singer claims her extensive dental work and injuries have negatively impacted her career and ability to perform.
This case illustrates how devastating injuries sustained due to negligent dental work can be. Botched dental procedures can leave an individual with permanent nerve pain and injuries that not only take an enormous physical toll, but also an emotional and mental toll.
Individuals who have suffered harm and injury as a result of a dental error or mistake would be wise to contact a legal professional. Injuries caused by a dentist's mistake often require additional procedures to remedy and may result in an individual incurring thousands of dollars in medical bills as well as lost wages.
