Most Pittsburgh area residents appreciate a good night's sleep. For many this means investing in a quality mattress. While most consumers who purchase new mattresses are likely most interested in comfort, there are certain other requirements issued by the federal government that must be met as well. One of these requirements regards its flammability.
Recently, mattresses manufactured by The Mattress Cloud Inc., were voluntarily recalled due to this issue. Though as of yet no injuries have been reported, the mattresses pose a fire hazard to those who purchased them in Pennsylvania or New York.
A total of 1,400 mattresses of varying sizes are included in the recall. They were available for purchase between August 2011 and January 2012 and were made prior to January 25 of last year. Anyone who purchased one of these mattresses during that period of time can contact the manufacturer for a new mattress.
It is fortunate that no one has been injured as a result of sleeping on any of the mattresses involved in this recall. While no injury is a good thing, recovering from serious burns is incredibly painful and dangerous. As they slowly heal, burn wounds are subject to infection. Once they have healed, resulting scars can be unattractive and painful due to their sensitivity.
In cases where consumers are hurt while using products in the way in which they were intended, a products liability lawsuit may be warranted. A financial recovery, which is the outcome of a successful case, can make the injury and any debt or bills that accumulate during a recovery, easier to handle.
