When a Pittsburgh girl wanted to see her Dad she decided to take matters into her own hands. She helped herself to her mother's keys intending to drive across town for a visit. She didn't quite make it to her dad's however. Instead, her ride came to an abrupt end when she crashed into two parked cars and then a utility pole. Fortunately, no one seems to have been injured, but that isn't the case when it comes to many car accidents.
Sometimes a car accident happens because of weather conditions or a person's bad day. And sometimes, like the circumstances of this six year old, the person behind the wheel clearly does not belong there. Police are still confused as to what made the girl think she could drive, and there is an ongoing investigation to determine whether or not any criminal charges should be filed.
When neighbors first saw the girl driving, they didn't realize she was a child because she is reportedly tall for her age. While witnesses were not hurt, they did need to jump out of the way of the vehicle to avoid such a fate. It is fortunate that all in this case escaped injury. Just as easily, the girl could have hit and injured someone else or herself, which would've been a horrible experience for all concerned.
As for the girl, she did get to see her dad after all, as he was the one to pick her up at the police station and take her home. Hopefully she'll be a little older before she borrows the car again.
