Worker dies in accident on Pittsburgh college campus

Construction projects are undertaken in a variety of settings each day in the Pittsburgh area. While many of those projects are completed without incident, in some cases accidents occur resulting in injuries. In the worst cases these injuries are so serious that they result in death. When this happens it is common for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration to be called in to conduct an investigation. This is what happened after the tragic death of a worker at the Carnegie Mellon University campus.

The man, who was employed by an electrical company, was reportedly working in Wean Hall when the work accident occurred. While exactly what happened is not clear, the man was reportedly electrocuted. Sadly, despite emergency services being called, he did not survive and expired before he could be taken to an area hospital. The victim was 59-years-old.

The sudden death of such an individual can leave those behind not knowing how they will make ends meet. This is particularly true when the worker who has died was a primary breadwinner for a family. One option family members may not be aware of is to file a wrongful death lawsuit. When successful, this type of civil lawsuit results in monetary damages that are given to the plaintiffs from the defendants.

The investigation being conducted by OSHA will likely determine exactly what happened to cause the man's death. That information could be used by loved ones of the man to mount a wrongful death lawsuit against any person or entity that could be found responsible for it.
