Mornings are often a stressful time to be driving on roads throughout the Pittsburgh area. Worrying about things going on at work can make some drivers agitated. Others may decide to speed because they are running behind. Situations such as these can make people engage in behaviors they otherwise would not while behind the wheel. At times these actions can lead to car accidents. While this is never a good thing, the outcome can be particularly bad when they occur during times when there is a lot of traffic on the roads.
A rush hour accident occurred earlier this week on the Parkway West. The crash, which occurred shortly before 8:00 a.m., involved three-vehicles and caused traffic to backup on the stretch of road for some time.
As a result of the accident two individuals were transported to local hospitals for medical treatment. The severity of their injuries is not known.
It is also not known what caused the accident to occur. It is possible that it could be due to one or more drivers engaging in distracted driving while behind the wheel. This is a problem on roads throughout the nation and consists of actions such as eating, applying makeup and talking or texting on one's phone while operating a vehicle.
Depending on the cause of the accident and the extent of the injuries suffered, personal injury lawsuits may be forthcoming. Information uncovered in the investigation that is sure to follow will likely inform whether such a lawsuit will be filed.
